FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- Broward College is pleased to announce that its 2015-2016 Broward College Speaker Series presented by Hoffman’s Chocolates andin partnership with Broward Center for the Performing Arts will kick-off this season with a fascinating and inspiring Q&A presentation with 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion and MVP Carli Lloyd on Monday, November 23rd. The series will feature four distinguished speakers who will share their exciting experiences, insights, points of view and behind the scenes stories on some of the most current topics of the day. Each lecture will take place in the Amaturo Theater (201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale) beginning at 7:30 p.m. and include a Q&A session with questions submitted by audience members.

Early subscribers receive a 15 percent discount and the best seats in the house. Individual tickets to see Carli Lloyd will be on sale beginning Friday, November 6th for $55 per ticket. A Three-Pack Subscription (for Mo Rocca, J.C. Watts and James Carville) will be on sale from Tuesday, November 24th through Wednesday, January 13th for $150. SPEAKER TOPIC: “A Conversation with Carli – Success On and Off the Field”
Carli Lloyd will share her story of how determination, passion and hard work has led her to gold on and off the field.
Carli Lloyd is an American professional soccer player for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team and the National Women’s Soccer League’s Houston Dash. A two‐time Olympic Gold Medalist, she holds the unique distinction of scoring the game‐winning goals in the finals at both the 2008 Games in Beijing and the 2012 Games in London. She also represented the United States at the past three Women’s World Cup tournaments. During the final match of the 2015 Women’s World Cup, Carli scored a historic hat trick that helped propel the U.S. to their first World Cup championship since 1999. She received the Golden Ball Trophy, awarded to the best player of the tournament, and the Silver Boot for her six tournament goals and one assist. With a work ethic second to none, she has played in over 200 matches for the U.S. Women’s National Team and has scored 67 goals. Off the field, Carli is a role model who empowers fans to never give up on achieving their goals. She almost gave up on her own soccer dream, but with the help and motivation from those close to her (and from the lessons she took from legends Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali), Carli continued her journey and has never looked back!

Whether as an event MC, guest host, or a featured speaker, Mo Rocca entertains his audience with his unique brand of comedy. With his signature wit and humor, he talks about his experiences as a journalist, writer/producer, and actor. He is known for researching the organization where he’ll be speaking before the event and then incorporating facts about it into his talk. Rocca’s unique combination of comedy and commentary keeps audiences engaged and entertained, while also making them think.
Humorist, journalist and actor Mo Rocca is best known for his off-beat news reports and satirical commentary. He is currently a correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning, host of CBS’ new series The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation and host of My Grandmother’s Ravioli on the Cooking Channel where he learns to cook from grandmothers and grandfathers across the country. In 2015, all three of his shows earned a total of five daytime Emmy nominations, with CBS Sunday Morning and Innovation Nation each winning for excellence in programming. He is also well known for his previous work as a correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, as a correspondent on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and a regular on the VH1 retrospective I Love the… series. He also hosted shows on Bravo and Animal Planet. Rocca was the former president and author of Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Show.

SPEAKER TOPIC: “James Carville Looks at Politics and the 2016 Race for the White House”
The legendary, provocative and always timely James Carville presents his captivating views on American and international politics, spiced with his own unique brand of optimism and humor. This political mastermind and a fixture in U.S. politics shares his thoughts on current events, the GOP-controlled Congress, the final years of the administration of Barack Obama, the 2016 Presidential election horserace and the challenges facing the major political parties and players.
