FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - The Museum of Discovery and Science hosted its 20th Annual Bank of America Wine, Spirits and Culinary Celebration on Friday, March 13, 2015. This amazing event showcased a sequence of wine and spirits and included culinary samples, which delighted and educated guests and their palates. The 2015 Wine, Spirits, and Culinary Celebration attracted 1500 guests and raised over $200,000. All proceeds benefitted the Museum’s exhibits, films, education, conservation, and outreach programs.

Bank of America has sponsored the event for all 20 years, including 18 years at the Presenting level. “We are proud of our longstanding partnership with the Museum of Discovery and Science including support of this event which we have seen grow and evolve over the years,” said Lori Chevy, Bank of America market president for Broward County. “The Museum is an important economic engine in our community and we are pleased to contribute to its impact.”

This year’s co-chairs, John Magee, Anthony Bland and Michelle Cibene topped last year’s guest experience by incorporating some new elements. Event highlights included tastings from South Florida’s leading restaurants and a vast array of wines and spirits from around the world, courtesy of beverage sponsor Southern Wine and Spirits. There was also an assortment of craft beers to taste an amazing silent auction and a complimentary Riedel wine glass for every guest.

The evening began with an exclusive reception in the Harry T Mangurian Jr. Foundation and Zimmerman Advertising Platinum Terrace that overlooked the New River. Platinum guests enjoyed premium cuisine provided by restaurant partners The Capital Grille, Publix Aprons and Lobster Bar Sea Grille. The Platinum experience also included complimentary valet, access to the City Furniture Platinum Lounge featuring Apeiro Kitchen & Bar from Delray Beach and early access to the Grand Tasting.

The Grand Tasting started at 6:30 p.m. and featured over 40 of South Florida’s top restaurants and a sampling of over 200 wine, spirits, and craft beers. This was followed by the ultra-chic Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort After-Party Lounge where all guests continued to enjoy the evening in the MODS atrium and danced to live band, Face2Face under the stars.

Guests voted for their favorite restaurants for the honor of: “Peoples’ Choice Award”. This year’s Peoples’ Choice Award” 2015 winner was Yolo Restaurant. The runner-up title went to Shooters Waterfront and third place winner was Susie’s Scrumptious Sweets. The Divine Dine Design awards for best décor went to Dapur Asian Tapas & Lounge, with second place going to Susie’s Scrumptious Sweets and third place to Truluck’s.
