Buzz mug buzheadBuzz Fleischman - Columnist Page There's some good news and some bad for Jeremy Lin, point guard of the New York Knicks basketball team.

The Knicks, were 'double digited' by the Miami Heat in their eighth win in a row and Lin, who had been up for 'most talked about' athlete in the upcoming all-star game, had eight turnovers and eight points with 1 of 11 shooting from the field. The Heat defense contained him like a hazard at Bio-Safety Level 4.

But in what can only be described as a strange game of Political Whack-A-Mole, Lin has emerged as the new front-runner for the Republican slate of Presidential contenders.

The Republicans, not completely sold on Mitt Romney, and distancing themselves from Newt Gingrich like pre-teen boys and girls at a middle school dance, and wary of the 'truthiness' of Rick Santorum and that vest thing, have latched on to the tremendous popularity of Lin. At least he's a team player.

In the Republican romp through the state contests, first one then another of the contenders bounces up and tastes the rarified air of the lead dog. Then the inevitable happens. They get a larger audience, and those who can actually think see what the candidate espouses and they're back down with the pack.

Lin, who has no Presidential aspirations, seems to be their ideal candidate. Unless someone from the Knicks organization calls and says, "What were you thinking?" we'll see a Lin bandwagon take shape as they try to schedule a few more debates to see just what his positions are.
