Fort Lauderdale, FL –The Humane Society of Broward County announces the 4th Annual Big Dog Men’s Invitational Golf Tournament that will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club - voted by USA Today Top10 as the number one golf course in Broward County. Join Big 105.9’s Honorary Chairs Wil Shriner and Dave Lamont for a day of golf, all while raising money to support the numerous programs and services at the shelter.

Pre-tournament contests include a chipping and a pre-qualifying putting contest; first, second and third place winners win great prizes. The putting shoot-out will consist of the putters whose ball landed within the paw-print 50’ feet away. On course contests include Closest to the Line, Closest to the Pin with Pet Poker and Hole-in-One prizes on all of the par-3 holes. Moe from Ultimate Cigars and Fine Wines will be by the half-way house (servicing both courses) with freshly rolled cigars. Over 200 players are expected to attend the event so be sure to register early to confirm you spot. Melody Saleh, Big Dog Golf Tournament Co-Chair states, “These past 3 years we’ve seen this event grow beyond our expectations. This year, our 4th, we are anticipating selling out early and raising over $85k (net) for the animals at the shelter. Post event comments these past three years have been nothing but positive. The guys have a blast and can’t wait to come back again.”
Registration and lunch will start at 11:30 am, with shotgun at 1:00pm and will be followed by the dinner and awards ceremony at 6:30 pm. Winners of the tournament will receive name brand golf equipment for the First Place teams on both the North and South course (2 teams) plus crystal golf trophies. Their names are engraved into the perpetual stand that holds the Big Dog trophy in the Champions Room at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Second and Third place winners on both courses receive crystal golf trophies.
During the putting contest shoot-out, players will have an opportunity to pursue the over 60 items in silent auction including autographed footballs by Don Shula and Jason Taylor, private Panthers Game Suite, golf foursomes at great places like the Lost Tree Club (Jack’s Place), TPC Eagle Trace, Parkland Golf & Country Club, Heron Bay and many more. A One-Month membership to the Trump National Doral Golf Club, Summer-Members at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club, Fine wine, sports venues, trips… the auction will have it all. A full open bar along with wine donated by Breakthru Beverage Florida will be provided.
Golfers, and others who can’t attend, have the opportunity to purchase a prize drawing ticket for the chance to win their choice of two incredible prizes - a spectacular Ireland Golf Adventure for two OR a fabulous Ireland Sightseeing Adventure for two. Both include hotels, car rentals and air fare; blackout dates and additional restrictions apply.
Dinner will be a full buffet with carving stations, fish and all the fixings. American Social, Pizza Craft, The Apothecary, Rhythm & Vine and Blue Martini will be competing for “Best in Show” featuring special cocktails on the course. More restaurants and bars will be announced as we get closer to tee time. Price for an individual golfer is $300/$1200 per foursome. Sponsorship levels available. All players will be provided with a Player’s Gift Bag including Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, tournament polo, and other great items. A grilled lunch, sponsored by Penn Dutch Meat & Seafood SuperStore, will be provided pre-shotgun; beer donated by Saint Arnold Brewing Company, soda and water along with snacks will be provided along the course.
