Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - Open Enrollment for 2017 ends January 31, 2017. Broward County residents wanting to purchase affordable health insurance through the health insurance marketplace for 2017 have only three weeks left to select or change a plan.
Broward Regional Health Planning Council (BRHPC) is leading the drive to alert Broward County residents of the importance to sign up for health insurance by January 31, 2017. More than 8 in 10 people who apply are eligible to save, and most can find plans for between $50 and $100 per month after accounting for their premium tax credit. Signing up is easy and can be done by logging onto www.healthcare.gov, by phone or by making an appointment for in person assistance.
“It is important that our Broward residents be proactive in choosing their health insurance,” said Michael DeLucca, President and CEO, BRHPC. “It is easy to get health coverage and it is important for everyone to sign up by January 31, 2017”.
The following items must be brought by individuals to the appointment to enroll: • Email Address (an account can be set up at the appointment) • Social Security number • Annual Income • Naturalization or Immigration documentation
Timing is critical. If you don’t have health insurance, you may have to pay a fee. The penalty is either 2.5 percent of your household income, or $695 per adult (which ever is higher). The penalty for each child without coverage will be up to $347.50.
