The annual Broward County Science Fair will be held at the Coral Ridge Mall on Friday, February 10. Students will present and defend their research and projects on Friday, February 10, from 8 a.m. to noon for middle school participants, and from noon to 4 p.m. for high school participants. The projects will remain on display through February 12.

The Broward County Science Fair will showcase over 800 outstanding student projects from more than 100 private, charter and public schools in Broward County. The competition celebrates the achievement of middle and high school students supported by parents, teachers and mentors.

Students will be judged on the merit of their scientific research.  The top 40 students and their projects will be selected to attend the State Science Fair in Lakeland, April 3-5, 2012, with four from that group invited to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 7-11, 2012.

The Broward County Science Fair is an annual event, which offers students an opportunity to:

• Display their scientific talent and receive recognition
• Organize research
• Exchange ideas with students and teachers from various schools
• Develop skills in all academic areas• Develop an awareness of problems in their environment and to offer viable solutions  for solving these problems.• Understand and cope with many scientific and technological changes in our society
        The fair is free of charge and open to the public.
