Mundy Gallagher FORT LAUDERDALE, FL –United Way of Broward County is proud to announce Mundy Gallagher has joined the non-profit organization in the position of Employment Specialist with MISSION UNITED. A joint partnership between United Way of Broward County and American Red Cross, MISSION UNITED is a critical new program supporting US military service members, veterans and their families in Broward County by helping them re-acclimate to civilian life. Key focus areas of MISSION UNITED include employment, education, health, legal assistance, emergency financial aid and housing.

In her role as Employment Specialist, Ms. Gallagher will be responsible for the sourcing, screening, assessment and referral of military service members, veterans and their dependent families to available employment positions throughout Broward County. As an integral part of the program, Ms. Gallagher will be the conduit for returning veterans needing employment. Currently, there are more than 110,000 veterans living in Broward County, and it is anticipated, that Florida, which has the third largest military veteran population in the United States, will become home to a large number of those returning stateside from Iraq and Afghanistan. The unemployment rate for younger veterans continues to outpace that of out-of-work civilians, so it is vital returning veterans receive the support MISSION UNITED, and Gallagher can provide.

A longtime resident of Broward County, Mundy Gallagher is looking forward to matching veterans and their families with local employers who have made a commitment to hire them as part of the MISSION UNITED initiative. Broward County is currently ranked 9th in the nation for returning veterans. Prior to joining MISSION UNITED, Gallagher held the position of Vice President of Divisional Staffing for South Florida at Sun Trust Banks.
