Rebuilding Together BrowardFT. LAUDERDALE, FL (October 11, 2013) -- Rebuilding Together Broward is proud to announce the launch of its new young professional’s Volunteer Task Force to help increase its volunteer base and build awareness of the organization’s initiatives to improve the homes and lives of low income homeowners. The group will host monthly “Volunteer Days” for the task force to work on small home improvements and repairs for eligible applicants.  Local young professional Volunteer Captains: Eric Barton, a Board Member of Rebuilding Together Broward; Jonathan Schwartz Construction and Development Manager, AutoNation, Inc., Carrie Allgaier, Director of Events for The Restaurant People and Aimee Adler, Vice President of Public Relations with Kip Hunter Marketing, are spearheading the inaugural Volunteer Day on Saturday, October 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The day will consist of helping 65 year old, Lauderhill resident, Marry Maxwell, who needs to make home improvements and safety modifications on her home and cannot do them herself.

“The launch of this new exciting task force for young professionals will help fulfill our need for volunteers to help the community’s underserved populations,” said Sandra Veszi Einhorn, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Broward.  “I think people are getting tired of young professional groups that just get together for happy hour type events and people are looking for something meaningful and fulfilling. This group is for those young professionals looking to sink their teeth into a valuable opportunity to grow themselves and get involved.”

The Volunteer Task Force is asking for all types of volunteers, including those who can help paint and people who can help with getting the materials and resources for certain projects.  They are also seeking skilled workers such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians or contractors who are willing to donate their time on different projects.

Marry has lived in her home for over 40 years and has basic home repairs and safety modifications that she cannot do herself to make her home secure. She has been active in the community and operated a childcare center in her home for over 15 years.  Recently, her health has changed her life course and she finds herself in need of Rebuilding Together Broward’s assistance.  Marry’s Lauderhill home needs both interior and exterior improvements.   On Saturday October 19th, the task force will paint the exterior and interior of her home, do light landscaping projects and other repairs and renovations that are necessary for her well being.

The Volunteer Day at the home of Mary Maxwell located at 3261 NW 14th Place in Fort Lauderdale, starts with a 9:00 a.m. empowerment team meeting to instruct the volunteers of their tasks and to introduce Marry Maxwell to the team.  Rebuilding Together Broward will provide lunch, entertainment and a free t-shirt to all volunteers who come out to help.  Interested volunteers can go to www.rebuildingtogetherbroward.org for more information or call Sandra Einhorn at 754-224-0054.
