BROWARD COUNTY – ChildNet, the community-based care (CBC) lead agency in Broward and Palm Beach counties, has received generous grants from the Salah Foundation and Peacock Foundation, Inc. to support a Predictive Analytic Project, a collaborative initiative with ChildNet, Broward Sheriff’s Office, Child Protective Investigations Section, Department of Children and Families and Algorythm, designed to improve the child welfare system by harnessing the power of historical data.

With the support of its partners, ChildNet will use the grant awarded, $60,000 from the Salah Foundation and $50,000 from Peacock Foundation, Inc., to analyze historical, psychosocial and outcome data to create predictive models. These models will inform the decision making surrounding removals, reunification and service selection within the child welfare system and are expected to safely reduce the number of children in the system and their length of stay.

“We are incredibly thankful to the Salah Foundation and Peacock Foundation, Inc. for their generous donations to this groundbreaking project,” said Emilio Benitez, CEO and president of ChildNet. “The number of removals has steadily increased over the last several years, slowing the entire process and negatively impacting children exiting the system. By analyzing five years of historical child welfare data, we can build reliable models that will identify the most critical elements needed to achieve safety, permanency and system outcomes efficiently.”

The Salah Foundation, which is a private foundation that supports non-profit organizations that strengthen families and communities and advances individuals to become productive and responsible citizens, administers a targeted grant process, where select organizations, like ChildNet, are invited to apply for funding. The foundation focuses on education, medical research, community development and self-sufficiency programs for the economically disadvantaged, the young, the elderly and the disabled.

For more than 65 years, Peacock Foundation, Inc. has assisted hundreds of non-profit organizations in their missions to improve the lives of the people of South Florida. Peacock Foundation, Inc. strives to enhance and promote the good health and well-being of children and families, actively promoting self-sufficiency and encouraging the community to help others. The foundation focuses on children, the elderly, the disabled, art programs for educational purposes, environmental education, health, medical research and human services.

As the single private non-profit entity responsible for administration of the local child welfare system, ChildNet brings years of dedication to protecting abused, abandoned and neglected children in the communities it serves.
