The fun-filled day involved 32 golfers who played a morning round of 18 holes followed by a delicious catered buffet lunch at the prestigious Fort Lauderdale Country Club. Participating individual golfers were challenged to raise a minimum of $2,000 each from their business associates, friends and family members, while corporate foursomes were tasked to raise a minimum of $5,000. In addition, 11 “virtual golfers” participated by raising funds for but not competing in the event.

Awards were presented to both the corporate team and individual golfer raising the most funds. For the second-straight year, Brown & Brown of Florida was honored with the Corporate Golf Challenge award, while the Individual award was presented to founding and current Partnership board member Elliot Borkson. Current Partnership board chair Dodie Keith-Lazowick was also honored as the Partnership’s top fundraising Virtual Golfer.

In addition, prizes were awarded to participating golfers for their performance on the course. The Men’s Longest Drive award went to John Marc Mulkey, while Renee Weintraub earned the Women’s Longest Drive as well as the Women’s Closest to the Pin awards. The Men’s Closest to the Pin award was won by Kevin Frawley, who played in a group that included his 7-year-old son Ryan who personally raised more than $2,500 for the event.

The Golf Challenge was made possible through the generous support of title sponsors Brown & Brown Florida, The Leo Goodwin Foundation and Am-Trust North America. Additional support was provided by The Circle of Friends Foundation, which sponsored the Closest to the Pin awards, along with AutoNation, Inc., David Warren Photography and Angel’s Envy Bourbon.

Proceeds from the event support the Partnership’s Family Services Program, which provides families with emergency shelter, food and a variety of services designed to strengthen and stabilize the entire family, including individual, couples and family therapy; family enrichment activities; peer-led support groups; and training to develop parenting skills and coping techniques.

In addition to safe shelter and nutritious meals, the Partnership offers wrap-around case management and comprehensive services, such as medical and dental care, behavioral health, workforce development, family therapy and others that assist the homeless in reacquiring health, housing and employment as quickly as possible.
