BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward resident Nadine McCrea is a prime example of what just one person can do to make a huge difference in the lives of others. McCrea, and the Washington Park Community Enhancement Collaboration were the recipients of this week's Broward Good News recognition by County Commissioner Beam Furr.

Eventually, with the help of community volunteers, the Community Enhancement Collaboration was formed as a non-profit organization to promote health, civic and social interests while improving community pride and encouraging participation by residents resolved to help one another.

"Everyone knows these people if you're living in Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, West Park or Pembroke Park.  They have touched numerous lives with crime watch groups, affordable housing, food pantries, clothes, and computer classes," said Commissioner Furr.  "Nadine and her group created a community and a sense of peace, where people look out for each other."

"I want you to know that we are all volunteers.  We have two hundred volunteers who work on various programs throughout the year.  I am who I am because of everyone around me, doing whatever they can to make Washington Park and our surrounding community a better place to live," said Ms. McCrea.

Broward Mayor Marty Kiar's Broward Good News initiative brings good news to the public by highlighting the successes of the County, the economic engines of small businesses, good Samaritans and other events that result in a positive outcome for Broward residents and visitors.  Broward Good News recognitions take place at regularly scheduled Commission meetings beginning at 10:00 a.m.
