Congratulations to Victoria Saldala, director of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Bilingual/ESOL Department, for being named the Latino Administrator of the Year by the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS).
Saldala was honored for this national recognition during the second annual Leaders in Education Awards Gala in Washington, D.C. The event celebrates best practices in public education, particularly in serving Hispanic populations.
“While the field of education is ever changing, the one constant is the need to serve youth in the best way possible, ensuring their scholastic experience is fruitful and rewarding,” said Veronica Rivera, ALAS executive director. “These
outstanding honorees do just that through their leadership and commitment to all students, Latinos in particular.”
This is the second year Broward County Public Schools has been recognized. In 2015, Superintendent Robert W. Runcie was honored by ALAS as its Hispanic-Serving School District Superintendent of the Year.
