Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) fifth annual Best In Class awards celebrates and recognizes students for outstanding attendance on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., Plantation High School, 6901 NW 16th Street, Plantation. The “Evening Among the Stars” event honors students for stellar attendance and also recognizes parents for their role and support.

This year, two students who have demonstrated cumulative perfect attendance while continuously enrolled in BCPS from kindergarten through 12th grade will receive the top award, Best In Class. Coral Springs High School senior Scott Cetoute of North Lauderdale and Western High School senior Zackrie Gordon of Davie, will both join an elite group of six Best In Class alumni. In addition to medals and gift bags, Best In Class recipients receive a scholarship by the Broward Education Foundation, a tablet by Partners in Education and a laptop by Lenovo.

Students who have demonstrated cumulative perfect attendance while continuously enrolled in BCPS in one of each of the three school levels are eligible for the Perfect Attendance award – elementary (grades K- 5), middle (grades 6 – 8) and high (grades 9 – 12). In all, 298 students will be honored for this recognition – 29 elementary school students, 237 middle school students, and 32 high school students. Perfect Attendance grade level award recipients will receive medals and gift bags with donations from community partners.

The District Attendance Committee thanks several community partners including Memorial Health, Miami Marlins, Broward Education Foundation, Partners in Education, Lenovo, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Congressman Alcee Hastings and Robert Mayersohn for their support and sponsorship of this year’s ceremony.
