BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward Good News and Commissioner Beam Furr recognized the companies, schools and community partners working to make the 2016 My Next Move: An Education/Career & Work Readiness Experience a success.

The unique My Next Move job fair will pair graduating high school students with career opportunities that best match their skills and talents. It is being held Saturday, May 21st from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McArthur High School located at 6501 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood. Companies wishing to participate can contact http://www.careersourcebroward.com/mynextmove to register.

"Two thousand three hundred and forty days is how many days a student attends school from kindergarten to high school graduation. Students who are not planning for college are often left to wonder what their next move is. We're coming together to provide career opportunities for those students," said Commissioner Beam Furr.

"I first sat down some years ago and thought about bringing this type of program to the Washington Park Community. Then we decided we needed to go bigger and we thought Commissioner Furr would be the perfect person to help us bring it all together along with all of these partners," Nadine McCrea, CEO of Community Enhancement Collaboration, Inc. told Commissioners.

Students from South Broward, Hollywood Hills, McArthur, and Hallandale High Schools are participating in the one day event.

"What we're talking about here is exposure. Getting this kids exposed to what is they need to see beyond high school and give them the opportunity to get jobs," said McArthur High School Principal Todd LaPace.

"A lot of our students don't always know what they want to do. This is an opportunity to help guide our students," said Hallandale High School Principal Mark Howard.

"I just want to share that my students at South Broward High School are excited about this opportunity and we're looking forward to this event," said South Broward High Principal

The 2016 My Next Move: An Education/Career & Work Readiness Experience is a regional partnership between Broward County, CareerSource Broward, Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County Public Schools, Broward County Chapter of Black Trade Unionists, Community Enhancement Collaboration Inc., OIC of South Florida, and Hispanic Unity of Florida.
