FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – On Friday, September 16th, the Broward Partnership hosted its 8th Annual Golf Challenge, raising more than $91,000 to support critically-needed shelter and supportive services for individuals and families living on the streets in Broward County.

The fun-filled day involved 34 golfers who played 18 holes on the Fort Lauderdale Country Club’s South Course and were then treated to a delicious catered buffet lunch.  Participating individual golfers were challenged to raise a minimum of $2,000 each, while corporate foursomes were tasked to raise a minimum of $2,500. In addition, 13 “virtual golfers” participated by raising funds for but not competing in the event.

Partnership Board Members Elliot Borkson and Mike Keeby shared the “Most Valuable Player Award” presented to the individual golfer who raised the most funds. Current Partnership Board Chair Dodie Keith-Lazowick was honored as the top fundraising Virtual Golfer for the second-consecutive year and Brown & Brown of Florida took the Corporate Golf Challenge award as the corporation that raised the most funds for the third-straight year. Prizes were also awarded to golfers for their performance on the course. The Men’s Longest Drive award went to Brandon Pratt, while Renee Weintraub earned the Women’s Longest Drive award. The Closest to the Pin award was won by Scott Jordan.

The Golf Challenge was made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsor The Leo Goodwin Foundation, along with golf course sponsor Minto Communities and lunch sponsor AmTrust North America. Additional support was provided by Closest to the Pin award sponsor The Circle of Friends Foundation, breakfast sponsor Matrix Health Group, Alpine Jaguar, David Warren Photography and Papa’s Pilar Rum.

Proceeds from the event will assist the Partnership in operating the 230-bed Central Homeless Assistance Center/Huizenga Campus, which serves more than 1,200 men, women and families with children experiencing homelessness each year. In addition to safe shelter and nutritious meals, the Partnership offers permanent supportive housing, wrap-around case management and comprehensive services such as medical and dental care, behavioral health, workforce development, family therapy and others that assist those experiencing homelessness in reacquiring health, housing and employment as quickly as possible.

About the Partnership: The Broward Partnership is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to reducing homelessness by promoting independence and self-worth through advocacy, housing, and comprehensive services.
