TELEPHONE TOWN HALL MEETING WITH MAYOR JACK SEILER
Join Mayor Jack Seiler for a special live Telephone Town Hall Meeting tonight, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 6 p.m., focusing on Hurricane Irma and its impact on the City of Fort Lauderdale. Neighbors with listed phone numbers will receive a call prior to the start of the meeting with instructions on how to participate. CITYWIDE CURFEW IN EFFECT
A citywide curfew is in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily until further notice.  All residents and businesses should observe the curfew and please stay off the streets during those hours.

CITY TO RESUME OPERATIONS
The City of Fort Lauderdale has resumed operations.

LIMITED RESIDENTIAL SOLID WASTE COLLECTION TO RESUME
The City of Fort Lauderdale will resume limited residential solid waste trash collection on Tuesday, September 12 for those neighborhoods that normally receive pickup on Tuesdays. Collection will be limited to items placed in the black garbage cart ONLY. No bagged trash set outside of the black cart will be collected.  No yard waste or recycling collections will be made.  Since we are anticipating a busy day, collections will begin early.  The timing of your pickup may vary from when you normally receive service.  Please be patient and allow the City extra time to complete the routes. We thank our neighbors for their patience and understanding.

DEBRIS CLEARING
City contractors have been out since early Monday morning clearing debris from the middle of our roads to allow for the safe movement of vehicles. If debris has been pushed onto your property, the City will be arranging for collections in the near future.  This procedure is a normal and important part of hurricane recovery operations.  We ask our neighbors to be patient while we work together to get our City back to normal. 

YARD WASTE, RECYCLING COLLECTION AND BULK TRASH PICK UP
Bulk trash pickup and residential cart collections including yard waste and recycling remain suspended until further notice. 

BARRIER ISLAND ACCESS
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is allowing access to the Barrier Island with proper identification (i.e., driver's license) and a valid reason (i.e., resident, business owner, employee). Some areas may have limited access due to ongoing road clearing operations. 

FORT LAUDERDALE BEACH LIFEGUARDS
Ocean Rescue lifeguards will be protecting Fort Lauderdale Beach beginning Tuesday, September 12.

TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY
Driving conditions remain dangerous due to inoperable traffic lights, downed trees, debris and power lines.  Please use caution while driving and treat all intersections with inoperable traffic lights as four-way stops.  Failure to stop will result in a fine.

AVOID STANDING WATER AND FLOODED STREETS
Avoid standing water.  Do not walk, play or drive in it.  It is dangerous and may contain electrical currents, contamination or other health and safety hazards. Call the City of Fort Lauderdale 24-Hour Neighbor Service Center at 954-828-8000 to report flooding.

Avoid driving through flooded streets; turn around and find another way. In addition to being a threat to life safety, the salt water can lead to both short and long term damage to your vehicle.

Follow posted road closure and detour signs.

If you drive through flooded areas, please be aware that creating waves can cause additional damage to surrounding landscaping and property.

AVOID DOWNED POWER LINES 
Report downed power lines to FPL at 1-800-4-OUTAGE. Do not walk or drive through standing water.

COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT)
All CERT volunteers available to assist with post-storm recovery should email FTL.EM@fortlauderdale.gov.

GENERATORS AND BARBECUE GRILLS
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue reminds neighbors to NEVER operate generators or barbecue grills inside their homes or on a balcony. Review generator safety tips.  

PARKS AND RECREATION
Community Centers, afterschool programs, and outdoor events and activities remain suspended until further notice.

BROWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Broward County Public Schools are closed until further notice.

TRANSPORTATION
Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) and the U.S. Customs & Border Protection Facility has resumed operations.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has resumed operations.
Sun Trolley and Riverwalk Water Trolley service remain suspended until further notice.
