The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center begins its new season with dance and the very best in family theater.

The Developing Dreams Foundation presents The Choreographers Ball on Saturday, October 11 at 7 p.m. Filled with riveting entertainment, the annual dance showcase features some of South Florida's hottest choreographers, dancers and arts companies performing various forms of modern dance, contemporary ballet and more. Tickets are $25, $35, $50. Free lap seats are available only at the box office for infants 12 months and under.

XII Annual Andes Folkloric FestivalEnjoy the traditions of the Andean civilization during the XII Annual Andes Folkloric Festival of Music and Dance, on Sunday, October 12 at 6 p.m., which celebrates the time-honored civilization, from the depth of mother earth to the majestic mountain peaks of the Andes. Known worldwide for its resplendent culture, the festival will include music and dance in a whirl of richly handcrafted costumes, described in folklore as "a dream of a thousand shapes and colors." Tickets are $10, $25 and $50 for a VIP ticket that includes a pre-show reception. Receive a 15 percent discount on ticket purchases made between September 2 - 16.

Arts Ballet Theatre returns to the stage at Aventura with four spectacular performances beginning with a Tribute to Diaghilev, on Saturday, October 18 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 19 at 3 p.m. A stunning celebration of the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, the program also includes Le Spectre de la Rose, a short ballet based on a poem by Théophile Gautier, and a very unique production of Petrouchka. Tickets are $30.

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center launches its Smart Stage Series with Sticks and Stones on Thursday, October 23 at 10 and 11:30 a.m. Award-winning singer-songwriter and recording artist Lyle Cogan uses music and interactive performances to examine the three components of bullying: the bullied, the bystander and the bully. Tickets are $10.

The Broward Center Family Fun Series at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center begins its season with Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse on Saturday, October 25 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. This whimsical musical adaptation of the books by Kevin Henkes teaches that making mistakes is part of growing up as an enthusiastic mouse, Lilly the "Queen of the World," lets her love for cheese snacks, her new red boots, best friends, new teacher and especially her purse that plays music get out of hand. The Family Fun Series is presented by Whole Foods Market and sponsored by Baptist Health South Florida. A full family experience, children enjoy free pre-show arts and crafts with Young At Art Museum and face painting, as well as complimentary post-show snacks provided by Whole Foods Market. Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 when purchased the day of the performance; $14 for groups of 10 or more; and $3 lap seats are available for infants 12 months and under. Four-show subscriptions are $52.

The City of Aventura presents The New World School of the Arts Repertory Dance Ensemble, one of the country's leading conservatories, as talented high school and college dancers perform works in ballet, modern, jazz and hip-hop styles.
o Presented as a Smart Stage Matinee on Wednesday, October 29 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $10 with $3 lap seats for infants 12-months or younger.
o Presented as a full program of dance on Wednesday, October 29 at 8 p.m., the program will include Robert Battle's powerful Rush Hour; an excerpt from Laura Murphy's contemporary ballet, Nosotros; Kehynde Hill's hip-hop work, Bear No Witness; and a duet from seasonal favorite, The Nutcracker. Tickets are $12.
