FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – As summer comes to an end, Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District is celebrating autumn with exciting cultural activities in September. The District partners – Broward Center for the Performing Arts, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, Florida Grand Opera, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, Historic Stranahan House Museum and Bonnet House Museum & Gardens – are offering many events and activities for all ages, including:

A unique way to experience history right on the New River, Fort Lauderdale Historical Society’s new Historic Boat Tours will take place on Saturdays, Sept. 12, 19 and 26 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. The tours begin with a 1-hour boat tour along the New River. Guests then disembark and tour the New River Inn, featuring the King Cromartie House and 1899 Replica School House. The maiden voyage is on Sept. 12. Al Jarreau and Jeffrey Osbourne, two legendary voices, join for one incredible concert on Saturday, Sept. 19,
8 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. A smooth crooner with a flair for scat singing, Jarreau has released jazz, pop and R&B records across four decades. A fourth-generation South Floridian from the William Freeman family of original homesteaders, Patsy West presents Stranahan Stories: “From Bathing to Swimming” on Monday, Sept. 21, 11 a.m.–noon. A curator, ethno-historian and author, West owns a bathing and swimsuit collection totaling over 150 suits circa 1910 to present. This Historic Stranahan House Museum event is free and open to the public, and will take place at the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club, 20 S Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. Family Day: Arts and Technology at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. is a fun-filled event for all ages. Museum educators present technology-inspired art workshops; the Broward County Main Library Youth Services department offers an art and technology story time; and Broward County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad presents a robotic demonstration.
