FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – In a highlight of the new theatrical season, Slow Burn Theatre Company brings its 2015-16 Season to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts kicking off with Big Fish, beginning on Thursday, October 22 through Sunday, November 8 in the newly updated Amaturo Theater.

With music and lyrics by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa, Big Fish is based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton. The musical tells the story of a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest and thrills those around him with his incredible, larger-than-life stories. His son, who is ready to become a father himself, is determined to find the truth behind his father's epic tales.

Overflowing with heart and humor, Big Fish swims deftly between two worlds: the lush, vibrant world of the father’s fantasies and the subtler world of his son’s reality. Variety raved, “A show for everyone who loves musicals. Don’t dare miss this!"

The cast features Shane Tanner as the father and Justen Fox-Hall as his son, who are joined by Ann Marie Olson, Gabe Sklar, Leah Marie Sessa, Kendra Williams, Matthew Korinko, Christopher Mitchell,
James Channning, Joshua Conner, Emily Tarallo, Geoffery Short and a talented ensemble that includes James Patrick Giordano, Nicole Kinzel, Meagan Nagy, Brian Varela and Corey Vega.

Big Fish is directed and choreographed by Slow Burn Theatre Artistic Director Patrick Fitzwater and features the creative team of musical director Emmanuel Schvartzman, costume designer Rick Peña, scenic designer Sean McClelland, lighting designer Preston Bircher and sound designer Rich Szczublewski .
“We collaborated with co-founders Patrick Fitzwater and Matthew Korinko on our Abdo New River Room Theater Series last season and now are pleased to welcome Slow Burn Theatre as one of our partners in the arts,” said Broward Center President and CEO Kelley Shanley. “We are excited to kick off the season with Big Fish in the Amaturo Theater to introduce new audiences to this award-winning company.”
