Symphony Of The Americas Presents Summerfest At The Broward Center For The Performing Arts

FORT LAUDERDALE – The Symphony of the Americas will present Summerfest, its 25th anniversary summer music festival, in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, July 17 at 6 p.m.

Under the baton of Symphony Artistic Director, Maestro James Brooks-Bruzzese, this festival will highlight the “Best of the Best” performed by the Summerfest Chamber Orchestra, which features musicians and soloists who have participated in this Festival over the past 25 years. Orchestra members represent more than 10 countries and, in addition to principal musicians of the Symphony of the Americas, represent such companies as the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra of Austria, the Mission Chamber Orchestra of Rome, Hungarian Virtuosi, Italy’s I Musici and more. Soloists in the performance at the Broward Center include: Concertmaster Orlando and Svetlana Forte, violin; Marilyn Maingart, flute; Sandro Tigishvili, violin; and Lorenzo Turchi-Floris, piano.

The program at the Broward Center features classical and popular music for strings by Vivaldi, Mozart and Fuchs. Georgian violinist Sandro Tigishvili will present his string arrangement of the Concertino by Georgian composer Otar Taktakishvili, which the Symphony of the Americas commissioned for this 25th anniversary festival. The concert will also feature a premiere by Italian composer Lorenzo Turchi-Floris.

The Symphony of the Americas is a Broward County designated Major Cultural Institution and the Broward Center is its performance home. During Summerfest, from July 9 – August 10, the orchestra will perform throughout Florida and the Americas during activities which include concerts and master classes. Summerfest educational outreach includes traveling to audiences in corners of the world which have never before experienced the exhilaration of live orchestral performance.

Tickets are $20 and $35 with $60 VIP tickets which include preferred seating and post-show reception.
