The annual event that benefits Broward County’s premier arts service organization has become known as the hottest ticket in town during the hottest time of year.

“We’ve named this year’s edition ‘RedEye: Reality Reimagined,’ and we challenged our artists to strip away every preconception they have about their art,” said ArtServe President and CEO Jaye Abbate. “For less than the cost of a movie ticket, attendees can expect the unexpected as they kick back, let reality take a raincheck and dive into a new creative realm.”

This year’s featured artist, DaveL (David Lavernia), has achieved international acclaim with his global shoes and clothing line, the ESPN mural for the Pan-American Games in Doral, surfboard and skateboard designs, international commissions and murals at large music festivals. During RedEye, the Miami-based artist will create a mural on the ArtServe building, assisted by local students whom he is mentoring.

“RedEye: Reality Reimagined” celebrates all the art forms ArtServe supports while featuring the emerging talents and disciplines of today.

Alexander Star & The Golden People and The Water Street Project are among the top bands that will take to the mainstage in entertainment led by dynamic host Michelle Rose Domb, while more performers will share the new ArtServe UnPlugged stage.

There will be a surprise at every turn. An original, dramatic short play will be presented and three feature films will be screened while a spoken word salon will turn words into powerful art. In the SofaLounge, interactive live video gaming will showcase the rising importance of gaming art.

ArtServe provides affordable programs, facilities and collaborative opportunities that help artists turn art into business, and supports arts in education and healing therapy throughout the community.

Sponsors of “RedEye: Reality Reimagined” include Bank United, Gibraltar Private Bank and Trust, ArtsCalendar.com, Gold Coast Magazine and VIP Lounge Sponsor Calvin, Giordano & Associates.

The event is presented in conjunction with the “RedEye” exhibition now through July 29. Both take place at ArtServe, located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

“Redeye” tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $75 which include special parking, complimentary food and drinks in the VIP lounge and a signature gift with a unique DaveL design.
