The Amernet String Quartet

FORT LAUDERDALE – The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents a cabaret-style evening of short movements and dialogue with The Amernet String Quartet in the Abdo New River Room on Thursday, January 12 at 8 p.m.

In an evening hosted by Broward Center Arts Ambassador Lyn Farmer, the doors will open an hour before the concert and patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy light fare and bar service in the performance space while mingling with the musicians.

The program itself will be short, with alternating sections of music, conversation and video accompaniment. The program is scheduled to feature Piazzolla’s “Libertango,” Schulhoff’s “Pieces,”
Korngold’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” Beethoven’s “Pathetique Movement 1” and Gardel’s “Por una cabeza.”

Called “one of America’s finest ensembles,” by the Cincinnati Enquirer, The Amernet String Quartet is Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami. The ensemble was founded in 1992 at The Juilliard School and was the first prize winner of the Banff, Tokyo, and Fischoff chamber music competitions. The quartet’s performance schedule has it taken it across the Americas and to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East while U.S. engagements have included the Kennedy Center, the Tilles Center, Caramoor, the Great Lakes Festival, Newport, Friends of Chamber Music in Arizona, Friends of Chamber Music in Syracuse, LPR in New York City, Chamber Music Society of Louisville, Music on the Edge in Pittsburgh, the University of Maine – Collins Center and Market Square Concerts.

The concert is a Classical with A Twist offering which invites music lovers to kick off their heels, loosen their ties and get ready for an up-close and casual experience with classical.
