FORT LAUDERDALE, Fl - South Floridians are invited to lace up those shoes and join hundreds of supporters during the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) Take Steps Fort Lauderdale Walk. The annual walk for a cure is the nation’s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases, mainly Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and begins April 30, 2106 at 3:00 p.m. in the Huizenga Plaza.

The Take Steps Fort Lauderdale event is part of more than 100 Take Steps walks that are taking place across the country to support the more than 1.6 million Americans (94,000 in Florida) that are affected by digestive diseases. Supporters are encouraged to create a team and to help change the lives of the thousands of people affected locally. In addition to the Walk festivities, there will be a kids’ zone with free food, drinks, musical entertainment and bounce house fun for the entire family.

The CCFA community is looking to empower and inspire its patients, families, loved ones, and friends to continue the fight of IBD and to connect communities as we fundraise for cures while supporting our patients.

To date, the Take Steps event has raised more than $60 million to fund mission-critical research and patient support programs. Approximately 83 cents of each dollar raised goes directly to funding this mission.

Take Steps Fort Lauderdale begins April 30 at 3 p.m. at the Huizenga Plaza located at One East Las Olas Blvd. in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Those interested in walking as an individual, or forming a walking team for Fort Lauderdale Takes Steps, can call (561) 218.2929, email rcartwright@ccfa.org or visit http://online.ccfa.org/fortlauderdale2016.
