HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- NBC has given the ax to Dane Cook's comedy "Next Caller," which was scheduled to join the network's mid-season lineup, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

The network had ordered six episodes of the show, starring Cook as a chauvinistic DJ at a satellite radio station.

Citing sources whose names it did not report, The Hollywood Reporter said four episodes that had already been filmed did not head in the creative direction NBC had expected.

"Next Caller" was penned and executive produced by Stephen Falk, whose former projects include "Weeds."

The comedy joins the network's "Munsters" reboot, "Mockingbird Lane," as the latest NBC projects to be canceled, The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday.
