Rochelle Koff, Broward restaurant critic for the Miami Herald, recently gave PL8 Kitchen three out of four stars, for a “very good” rating. Here are some excerpts from what she had to say:
…on Sept. 1, owner Dave Nicholas jumped onto the small-plates bandwagon with both feet, transforming [the former Himmarshee Bar & Grille] into the hipper, more casual PL8 (pronounced “plate”) Kitchen…
On the list of “See Food” there’s wahoo, nicely grilled to rare, plated with a wonderfully savory sweet potato-almond hash that summons the flavors of fall.
Mac and cheese, the diva of comfort foods, is so popular at PL8 that the preparation changes daily.
The menu includes Himmarshee’s signature butternut squash purses, though they seemed too buttery and didn’t live up to my fond memories.
The prosciutto and basil [pizza] was a hit, enlivened by roasted tomatoes, onion jam and melted mozzarella.
