The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida will host Mano a Mano, one of Cuba’s hottest new vocal groups in a joint concert at 8 p.m., Saturday, July 23, in Fort Lauderdale’s Sunshine Cathedral.

Tickets for “Fraternidad! A Concert of Music and Multicultural Harmony” are available online at gmcsf.org, ranging in price from $25 to $45.

Mano a Mano—a five-man group of classically trained singer-musicians that has been referred to as “a cross between Take 6 and Pentatonix”—is on a tour of the United States, giving performances in Glendale, CA; Denver, CO, Washington, DC; Poukeepsie, NY; and Provincetown, MA, as well as Fort Lauderdale.

Their tour marks the first time in history an openly gay music group from Cuba has visited the U.S.

They have performed at many venues in Havana and in 2015 made history representing Cuba’s LGBT community by performing jointly with an ensemble from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington during that group’s visit to Cuba, in the first cultural/diplomatic exchange of this type between Cuba and the United States.

Both Mano a Mano and the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida are fresh from performances at the GALA (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) Festival in Denver, the first week of July. This once-every-four-years event featured 138 choruses and more than 6,000 singers from throughout the U.S. and several other countries
