Alejandro Drago

Alejandro Drago, violin

Why do the first few beats of a tango entice and move an audience to swing and sway with the music that follows? These specifically placed rhythms conjure up thoughts of visible romance and seduction that other genres envy. This is the Mystery of a dance that began in the 1890’s and swiftly moved across the world with dramatic intensity.

Hailed by music critics as “a superb musician” with the “classical virtuosity of Heifetz,” Argentine violinist, Alejandro Drago studied with the bandoneón player of Astor Piazzolla’s tango ensemble. Drago, with Symphony of the Americas, present the World Premier of his original composition “Mysteries of Buenos Aires”. Through this piece, Alejandro Drago takes the audience on a musical journey through his hometown of Buenos Aires in three movements. These Movements will highlight specific points of inspiration in his life while utilizing the elements and instrumentation of the Tango, a style that is rooted in Buenos Aires History.
