Croatian pianist Kemal Gekic, one of today's most formidable pianists (daring, provocative, exciting) and Dutch cellist Iris van Eck, principal cellist with Symphony of the Americas (stellar and charismatic) will be performing an enchanting recital on Sunday Afternoon, January 25 2015.

This concert will also mark the 10th anniversary as a Duo of their cello/piano concerts at the Chameleon Concert Series.

A CD by the Duo: Works by Fauré for cello and piano, was recommended by George Balcombe

"The powerful beauty of Van Eck's opening cello playing has a profoundly moving sound, confirmed as real by the piano's repetition which takes the Elégie to the deepest notes. The opening phrases send out a solemn, orchestral signal enhanced equally by cello and piano without either instrument dominating the sense of ritual."

From a review of one of their concerts by Lawrence Budman: "Cellist Iris van Eck and pianist Kemal Gekic proved a near perfect duo, matching sonic power and vivid instrumental personalities at the Chameleon series' afternoon musicale on January 13 at the Leiser Opera Center in Ft. Lauderdale."

On the program:

Josef Suk (1874-1935) Ballade and Serenade

Zoltán Kodály(1882 –1967) Sonata for cello and piano

Antonín Dvořák (1841 –1904) Rondo, Silent Woods and Polonaise in A major

Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky (1840 – 1893) Pezzo Capriccioso

Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897) Sonata in E minor, Opus 38
