FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – On a mild spring day in early April the Humane Society of Broward County hosted its third annual Big Dog Men’s Invitational Golf Tournament at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. The event continues to grow in every way, and Chairs Melody and Ali Saleh and Cherie and John Marshall were thrilled with the great turnout and the success of the day – a net of over $65,000 was raised for the shelter.

1st Place North Mercedes Benz TeamThe First Place winners on the north course were the Mercedes-Benz team: Juan Aller, Ricardo Jordan, Peter McInnis and Pedro Jordan.

The tournament utilized both the north and south courses and a shamble format kept the game challenging. Prizes were awarded to the Overall Team Winners on each course, with their names being engraved on the perpetual Big Dog Champions Cup that rests in the Champions Room at the Fort Lauderdale Country Club. This year’s overall winning foursome on the north course was the Mercedes-Benz team: Peter McInnis, Juan Aller, Ricardo Jordan and Pedro Jordan. The south course overall winning foursome was the CopySource team, made up of Rian Kiniry, Will Block, Scott Gilliland and Evan McGrath. Pet Poker added to the fun of the afternoon; at all Par-3 holes, Big Dog participants were offered the chance to purchase playing cards to assemble the winning hand for 50% of the Pet Poker Pot. Tommy Hogan won this contest and generously donated a large portion back to the HSBC. Tickets were also sold for a terrific prize drawing, and lucky winner Sandy Myers had to make a fabulously difficult choice between a Pebble Beach Golf Experience or a trip to the 2016 Masters Finals. A drawing was also held for the chance to win a foursome in next year’s Big Dog Golf Tournament, with Mark Huard of Stonegate Bank securing his team’s spot for 2016.

The day ended with a silent auction and cocktail hour, followed by a buffet dinner and awards ceremony.
