Brazilian Gastronomic Experience Supports Broward College Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (November 22, 2023) – More than 160 guests were treated to a Brazilian gastronomic experience during a special sold-out dinner hosted by Broward College Alumni & Friends at Regina’s Farm. The event took place in Fort Lauderdale to raise funds for Broward College Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund.

Scholarships have a significant impact on the people who matter the most at Broward College — the students. Contributions received during the Broward College Night at Regina’s Farm strengthens the College’s ability to provide students with financial assistance and access to a transformational education that leads to meaningful career opportunities. The scholarship fund aids students with the greatest needs with the necessary resources to reach their goals, paving the way to make their dreams a reality.

“We thank Regina’s Farm for hosting members of the Broward College community and their support of our mission and commitment to our students,” said Megan R. Cottle, Vice President for Advancement, and Broward College and Executive Director for the Broward College Foundation, which supports, advocates, elevates and serves the college, its students, and its faculty. “Thanks to everyone who attended, we will uplift our students, funding scholarships to empower student development and prepare them to become successful at Broward College, in their chosen career and in the community.”

It’s no surprise that this dinner experience sold out in record time. Only open on weekends, and with a waitlist that is years long, Regina’s Farm is well known for its authentic atmosphere and exquisite cuisine.

“At Regina’s Farm, our wish is to make everyone feel at home and we welcome the Broward College community of Alumni & Friends to enjoy a home-cooked meal together,” Regina said. “We are happy to host Broward College Alumni & Friends to help people build connection and support the educational needs of our community.”

Broward College Alumni & Friends is a network that was formed in 1960 and includes more than one million people who have taken courses or have graduated with degrees from the College. Alumni & Friends chose this exclusive culinary experience for guests to celebrate local cultures and support Broward College students.

“BrightStar is delighted to partner with Broward College Alumni & Friends to celebrate as a community and support the educational dreams of students through the power of scholarships,” said Dustin Jacobs, Vice President of Marketing of BrightStar Credit Union.

A special “Obrigado and Thank You” goes to sponsors of Broward College Night at Regina’s Farm, including Premium Platinum Egg Partner BrightStar Credit Union; Swag Sponsors Ark Solvers and the Mavuno Project; friends of Broward College Bill and Audrey Ring; and Rebel Wine Bar and Funky Buddha for unique curated wines and craft beers that accompanied the delicious home-cooked Brazilian delicacies served that evening.

“Rebel Wine Bar was so thrilled to share vibrant Brazilian culture,” Rebel Wine Bar owner Larissa Castelluber said. “I am a native of Brazil and raised in the U.S. By coming together to enjoy Regina Farm's amazing food and our wine, we are supporting crucial scholarships for Broward College students. This is an important cause we were honored to be a part of.”

Among those in attendance were Broward College’s Vice President Cottle, Dr. Stephanie Etter, Nancy Botero, Janice Stubbs, Dr. Nora Powell, and Dr. Lulrick Balzora; Wilton Manors Mayor Scott Newton; and Broward College Foundation Board Members Reginald Andre and Ginger Martin.
