City of Fort Lauderdale debris removal contractors are finishing up Hurricane Irma debris removal to clear roadways. As soon as roadways are clear, contractors will begin making multiple passes through neighborhoods to pick up storm-generated debris.

Neighbors should place storm-generated debris on the public right-of-way, in swales and make sure the pile is clear of any obstacles including mail boxes and vehicles. The public right-of-way is the area of residential property that extends from the street to the sidewalk, utility pole or easement. Neighbors are urged to separate the debris as follows (SEE FLYER) 

• VEGETATIVE DEBRIS(whole trees, tree stumps, tree branches, tree trunks and other leafy material)• CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS (damaged components of homes, buildings and structures such lumber and wood, wall board, glass, metal, roofing materials, tile, furnishings, and fixtures)• HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE (materials that are ignitable, reactive, toxic or corrosive such as paints, cleaners, pesticides, etc.) Do not place to the curb at this time. Instructions to be announced.• APPLIANCES & WHITE GOODS (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps, ovens, ranges, washing machines, clothes dryers and water heaters)• ELECTRONIC WASTE (computers, televisions, office electronic equipment, etc.)

• Only loose debris will be collected. Bagged debris should not be placed on the public right-of-way and will not be collected.
• Neighbors should continue to use BLACK CARTS ONLY for food and other household waste.
• Do not place spoiled food items or other waste in debris piles.
• Please do not put any bagged trash or recycling carts curbside as they will not be picked up.
• Bulk trash and recycling services have been suspended until further notice.
• Do not place debris near a water meter vault, fire hydrant or any other above-ground utility. Only debris placed on the public right-of-way will be eligible for collection.
