Fort Lauderdale, FL -- The Gold Coast Jazz Society will present the three of south Florida’s premier jazz vocalists with members of the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band as the closing concert  of this year’s jazz concert series.  The performance will occur at the Amaturo Theater of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW 5th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale at 7:45pm.  Single tickets are available for $55 per person.  Students and teacher tickets are $10 with valid ID.  To purchase single tickets, call the Broward Center AutoNation Box Office at 954-462-0222, or go online to www.browardcenter.org or www.goldcoastjazz.org 

Debbie Orta, Wendy Pedersen and Nicole Yarling will perform “Honoring the Great Ladies of Jazz.”   Each of these three jazz divas have a long history in the local jazz scene.  They will be backed by members of the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band, under the direction of Martin Hand. 

Vocalist, composer and actor, Debbie Orta paid her dues in the business performing in nightclubs around the country.  She toured as a backup singer for Latin American superstar, Jose Luis Rodriguez, (aka "El Puma"), enjoying the world travel and musical influences from Latin America.  Debbie is a founding member of the Miami Jazz Co-op where performs with an illustrious group of renowned jazz musicians. She has appeared in self-produced multi-media tribute concerts of the Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Peggy Lee songbooks.

Wendy Pedersen is one of South Florida’s favorite performers. Her high energy delivery, with deep, convincing emotion, has been impacting audiences for years. A highly sought after studio singer, Wendy can be heard on hundreds of recordings including those of Christina Aguilera, Alejandro Sanz, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Chayanne, James Brown, and Raul Diblasio- just to name a few.  Her discography includes Boy Meets Girl, Me + Three, Ho Ho Ho, and Under the Influence.

Vocalist, jazz violinist and educator Nicole Yarling has been part of the local jazz scene since the 1980’s, working in jazz, rock, R&B, experimental music, and a few other styles that defy description. Both a professional performer and a music educator, Nicole serves on the faculty of Florida Memorial University and the University of Miami. She also uses her various musical skills to lead the JCC Jazz Bootcamp, various master classes and vocal lessons and leads the GCJS First Friday Jazz Jams.
