Summer Theater Camp 2019

FORT LAUDERDALE – Enrollment is now open for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and The Performance Project School of the Arts Summer Theater Camp 2019 at the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center at the Broward Center, the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Miami-Dade and at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova South Eastern University.

Under the direction of The Performance Project School of the Arts’ Executive Director Nina Felice, campers gain hands-on experience in musical theater, acting, dance, voice and technical production. Each camp session, regardless of location, culminates in a live performance on a professional stage in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center.

Children and teens experience the joy of performing on stage as they gain self-confidence and develop critical thinking skills. Every camper performs in a show as they learn the importance of teamwork in an encouraging environment.

Four Groups Designed to be Age Appropriate

Acting Up Camp, for children between ages seven and nine, offers classes in acting, singing, dance and arts and crafts. First session campers will perform Junie B. Jones JR and second session campers will perform Madagascar JR.

Broadway Bound Camp, designed for kids ages 10 to 13 (and up to 14 for the Aventura location), features intermediate classes in acting, singing, dance and technical production with first session campers performing Once Upon a Mattress G2K and second session campers performing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang JR.

Company Group Camp, for teens ages 13 to 18 with a moderate amount of theater training, explores voice and diction, character analysis, scene study, dialects, styles and methods during the second session only with campers performing Chicago – High School Edition.

Available by video-submission audition only, Young Professionals Camp is for teens ages 13 to 18 performing in a production of the musical Beauty and the Beast JR at the Broward Center for the general public. Campers must be available to participate in the full seven-hour day, four-week program and will also have the opportunity to earn community service hours. Young Professionals Camp is available at Broward Center and The Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at Nova South Eastern University during session one only. Rolling submission dates are March 18, April 15 and May 13.  Please visit BrowardCenter.org/Camp for additional application information.
