FT. LAUDERDALE (February 1, 2012) – 2-1-1 Broward is proud to announce the nominees for the Second Annual BankAtlantic Non-Profit Academy Awards Presented by 2-1-1 Broward & Hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.  In true Academy Awards style, the 2012 BankAtlantic Non-Profit Academy Awards will celebrate the inspiring work of Broward's non-profit agencies and recognize the individual efforts of outstanding non-profit executive and board leaders.  Evoking the iconic symbols of the Academy Awards and its glitz and glamour -- including red carpet, search lights and golden statues, the awards ceremony and luncheon will take place on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL.
 
The nominees for the 2012 Awards were revealed on January 24th at an exclusive VIP Announcement Party presented by Broward Health and hosted by Steven Savor.  In attendance were this year’s BankAtlantic Non-Profit Academy Award event Co-Chairs: Marcia Barry Smith, Title Sponsor - BankAtlantic; Jen Klaassens, The Wasie Foundation/ Presenting Sponsor and 2-1-1 Broward; and Susan Renneisen, Host Sponsor - Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino; along with sponsors (we can add some here if you want) and award nominees.
 
Every non-profit is encouraged to attend the luncheon and awards ceremony and be recognized for their contribution to our community.  Awards will be given in seven categories and all other nominees will be eligible for the Publix Community Choice award.  The sealed envelopes with the winning organizations and leaders have been secured by the official accounting firm McGladrey and will be delivered to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on February 24th for the awards ceremony.  The 2012 BankAtlantic Non-Profit Academy Awards Presented by 2-1-1 Broward & Hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino categories and nominees are:
 
AutoNation Lifetime Achievement Award - Nominees: Dr. Erwin Vasquez, Light of the World Clinic; Frances Esposito, Broward Partnership for the Homeless; and Arnold Abbott, Love Thy Neighbor
 
Berger Singerman Outstanding Non-Profit Organization of the Year - Nominees:  Children’s Home Society of Florida, Jack & Jill Children’s Center, and Leadership Broward
 
Patriot National Insurance Group Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Innovation - Nominees:  FLITE Center, Hispanic Unity of Florida, and Russell Life Skills
 
The Wasie Foundation Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Advocacy - Nominees:  Forever Family, Lauren’s Kids and Lighthouse of Broward
 
Calvin, Giordano & Associates Non-Profit Organization of the Year – Rising Star - Nominees:  Broward Bulldog, The Crockett Foundation and KidSafe Foundation

The BankAtlantic Non-Profit Academy Awards was created last year by 2-1-1 Broward, the single organization providing access and connections to all health and human services for every Broward resident. The event is expected to sell-out again this year with over 700 guests. “An event like this brings awareness to the collective impact of Broward’s non-profits on our community. The BankAtlantic Non-Profit Academy Awards will be hosted by Lynn Martinez, Anchor for 7 NEWS and co-host of the popular entertainment show "Deco Drive”.
