The School Board of Broward County, Florida, has approved school opening and closing times for the 2016/17 school year.  The changes were approved by the School Board during its Tuesday, May 3, 2016, meeting. The approved bell times reflect changes to the opening and closing times for 14 District sites, including two elementary schools, four middle schools, and six high schools, as well as routes for one center and one technical college.

Each year, the Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Student Transportation and Fleet Services Department conducts a review and evaluation of its services to ensure that appropriate resources are in place to meet transportation needs, and compensate for student and program growth.

In most cases, the changes in bell times range from 5 - 15 minutes. The changes for the two elementary schools (Coconut Creek Elementary School and Liberty Elementary School) include 30-minute shifts in opening and closing times. The opening and closing times for Coconut Creek High School were also adjusted to accommodate the launch of the school’s new Coconut Creek Career/Technical Academy. The changes go into effect in the 2016/17 school year.
