Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Matt Katz, Managing Partner of Katz Barron’s Fort Lauderdale office, has been named the Treasurer of The Humane Society of Broward County’s Board of Directors. In this role, Katz will contribute to a variety of board activities including financial and legal advisement, and administration of leadership, among other responsibilities.

Matt Katz is a seasoned attorney who began practicing law in 1996. Currently, he focuses his practice on corporate and business law, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, finance, and renewable and beneficial reuse development. Prior to joining Katz Barron, Katz served as General Counsel to UnitedLex Corporation, a legal process technology, consulting and outsourcing company providing services to Global 500 companies and Am Law 200 law firms in the areas of eDiscovery, document review, contract review and management, immigration, legal research, corporate secretarial services and intellectual property. He has also previously served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Republic Services where he provided key advice and counsel to the senior management team and participated in a variety of legal matters, including, corporate development and general corporate matters. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the New York Bar and the New Jersey Bar (inactive).
Katz is an active member of the community and in addition to his involvement with the Humane Society of Broward Country, he is also a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Broward County. He has been involved with this organization for a number of years, including serving as part of the Audit Committee and the Tocqueville Society Steering Committee. Katz is also a member of the Broward Workshop.
