MIRAMAR – The Miramar Cultural Trust presents Celebration of the Sea: A Guy Harvey Exhibit, featuring works by world-renowned marine wildlife artist Guy Harvey, through May 31 at the Miramar Cultural Center | ArtsPark Ansin Family Art Gallery. The exhibition will showcase several of Harvey's original framed pieces and an eclectic collection of artwork on tile, canvas and giclee reproductions.

"We are extremely pleased to be showcasing an exhibit of Guy Harvey's artwork at the Miramar Cultural Arts Center," said Jim Goggins, chair of the Miramar Cultural Trust. "His artistic style depicts warm water marine sport fish in dynamic poses in their natural settings and this collection is a great compilation of his work."

Harvey combines his artistic talent with his experience as a marine biologist, diver, photographer and angler to create marine wildlife art that combines authenticity with vibrant visual appeal. Self-taught, his artistic roots stem back to his childhood, when he spent many hours fishing and diving with his father off the coast of Jamaica. His obsession with marine life inspired his early drawings.

Harvey's newest "canvas" will be the hull of Norwegian Cruise Line's new ship, "Escape", due to be completed in 2015. His monumental works of art can already be seen in floor-to-ceiling murals at Fort Lauderdale International Airport and Nova Southeastern University, although he is best known for his dynamic game fish tee-shirt designs.

"We are pleased to be partnering with the Miramar Cultural Trust to showcase this collection of work" said Steve Stock, president of Guy Harvey, Inc. "We hope that these pieces will inspire the audience and cause them to appreciate and respect our ocean resources in a way that they had not, prior to seeing the exhibit".

Presented by the Miramar Cultural Trust, Celebration of the Sea: A Guy Harvey Exhibit is sponsored by 99.9 KISS County Radio, The Ansin Foundation, Novus Realty, Sun Bergeron and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.

This exhibition is free and open to the public. The gallery is open Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Miramar Cultural Center | ArtsPark is located at 2400 Civic Center Place on Red Road, north of Miramar Parkway, in Miramar.
