Fort Lauderdale, FL – Thanks to a Holiday Angel, the adoption fee for 100 pets has been underwritten by a very generous South Florida resident.
According to Cherie Wachter of the Humane Society of Broward County, “early Saturday morning, before our adoption kennels were open, our Angel, Steven G. – President of Interiors by Steven G. Inc., stopped by and said he wanted to spread some holiday cheer and pay for 100 adoptions! We have had people want to sponsor a few pets before, but never so many. I had to hold back the tears.”
Shelter staff identified select pets that will have their fees sponsored. Each pet has a special sign on their kennels. Dudley, the 4 year old Shepherd mix who had been waiting since early September, was selected, adopted and got to go home Saturday evening with his new family. Misty, a feline who had been at the shelter for more than 140 days also got to go to a new forever home.
Since Saturday, 32 pets have been adopted that qualified for underwritten adoption fees, but there are many more looking for forever homes. Families that will spoil their new furry friends for this holiday season and many more to come.
The Humane Society of Broward County opens daily at 10:30, so please stop by…you might just find your best holiday gift ever.
