Inspired by the popular starfish story by Loren Eiseley, the event recognizes individuals in the community, making a difference one person at a time.
The 2012 honorees are:
Jason and Katina Taylor
The Community Foundation of Broward
The Sunshine Lady Foundation and the Women’s Independence Scholarship Program
James A. Cummings, Inc.
A survivor of domestic violence will be presented with a special Starfish award.
“We are so pleased to be recognizing this amazing group of individuals and organizations so committed to issues affecting families and children. Each has contributed, in significant and different ways, to making our community a safer place, providing opportunities for a new start to those affected by domestic violence. They are indeed making a difference one person at a time,” said Mary Riedel, President and CEO of Women In Distress.
In addition to presenting sponsor Wells Fargo, event sponsors include: AutoNation, Inc., Comerica Bank, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., SE Toyota, Signature Grand, and the Wasie Foundation.
