Banyan Elementary School is preparing to beautify its campus with the assistance of community volunteers at its Beautification Day event on Saturday, March 3, 2012. The Beautification Day will be a community effort and will take place from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Banyan Elementary (8800 NW 50th Street, Sunrise).

The event is sponsored in part by the Home Depot Foundation, which awarded Banyan a $2,400 grant to enhance the school’s appearance with murals, painting, clean-up, plants and sod.

Volunteer and sponsor registration for the project will begin at 7 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria. Childcare will be provided for children ages five to 10 and all volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch following the event.

This will be the first time that Banyan Elementary hosts an event of this magnitude. Assistant Principal Cheryl Proctor said that all aspects of the project are anticipated to be completed in one day with the help of the city of Sunrise businesses and community.

Lunch will be catered by 2Guys Caterers, Chick-Fil-A and CB Caribbean Spot. Other sponsors include Kohl’s, The Illustration Club at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Evolution Martial Arts and Banyan PTA.
