The Historic Preservation Board proudly announces the City's first-ever Historic Preservation Commendation Awards, created to honor outstanding historic preservation achievements by individuals, students, organizations and businesses. The awards are intended to celebrate and encourage the preservation, restoration and adaptive use of Fort Lauderdale's historic buildings, sites, and resources.

The City's first-ever Historic Preservation Commendation Awards were created to honor outstanding historic preservation achievements by individuals, students, organizations and businesses. The Awards Ceremony will be held during National Historic Preservation Month, and hosted by the City's Historic Preservation Board and staff from the Department of Sustainable Development, Division of Urban Design & Planning.

Location: Broward Historical Commission Building, 301 Harmon Avenue
Nominations are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012, and may be submitted by individuals or organizations. Owners of historic properties are encouraged to nominate their historic buildings. Properties nominated are not required to be locally or nationally designated, but must be located within the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Fort Lauderdale Historic Preservation Board will review all nominations, inspect nominated properties, and award applicants who demonstrate outstanding merit in the field of historic preservation.
