Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) will celebrate students who have achieved perfect attendance at its fourth annual Best-in-Class and Perfect Attendance Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., Plantation High School Auditorium, 6901 NW 16th Street, Plantation. The Best-in-Class Award is presented to students who have been continuously enrolled in BCPS from kindergarten through 12th grades, with the best attendance.

This year, three students who have not missed a single day of school since entering kindergarten 13 years ago, will be honored with the Best-in-Class Award for achieving perfect attendance. Students receiving the highest attendance recognition for a total 2,340 school days include: Elizabeth Houston of Miramar High School; Laura Perkins of McFatter Technical High School; and Eden Skopp of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

In addition to this top recognition, the Best-in-Class honorees will each receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Broward Education Foundation, a Lenovo laptop and an iPad, along with an assortment of gift packages and certificates provided by community and business partners.

Perfect Attendance Awards by school levels will also be presented to students who have cumulative perfect attendance in elementary school (grades k – 5), middle school (grades 6 – 8) and high school (grades 9 – 12). Approximately 200 students meet the criteria for this recognition, including 19 elementary school students, 148 middle school students and 22 high school students. Students will receive a medallion and gift bag. Parents will also receive a certificate and recognition for their support of their students’ achievements.

Gifts and prizes for the Best-in-Class and Perfect Attendance Awards recipients are provided by the Broward Education Foundation, Partners in Education, Miami Marlins, Miami HEAT, Lenovo, BrightStar Credit Union, Applebee’s, Carlin Uniforms, Memorial Healthcare System, Dunkin Donuts and Sawgrass Lanes.
