The Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is a trustworthy place to visit, explore and enjoy. The Museum and AutoNation^® IMAX^® Theater remain open under normal business hours and operations. 

As an epicenter for modern scientists, engineers, learning and discovery, it is our responsibility to present facts and information to the community, and especially to you, our friends and supporters. MODS is an American Alliance of Museums (AAM) accredited organization, and of the 33,000 museums in the U.S. only 3% are accredited by AAM. Our AAM pledge is built upon meeting the highest standards of excellence, including safeguarding public trust, as well as facilities and risk management. We appreciate YOUR trust in us as a community organization serving South Florida for more than four decades. 

Please know that we are taking many steps to maintain an environment that promotes healthy guests, staff and animals. 

As the United States continues to see a spread of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, we uphold the health and safety of all who visit the Museum as our top priority. We are taking every precaution and following the latest developments, as well as the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization, Florida Department of Health, Florida Department of Health in Broward County, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) and the AAM.

We are sharing the extra measures we are implementing to maintain a clean environment to ultimately help protect the health of our guests. 

• We disinfect and clean all public and staff touchpoints in the Museum throughout the day with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved and hospital-grade disinfectants, which are recommended by the CDC as being effective against COVID-19.

• We ask that guests practice self-care and protect public health by staying home if they are feeling sick or have been exposed to anyone with COVID-19.

• We have heightened our focus on preventive hygiene, hand washing and institutional cleaning. 

• We have signage posted at our entrance, in each restroom and throughout the Museum sharing CDC recommendations regarding handwashing.

• We are continuing our thorough nightly cleaning and disinfecting protocol. 

All of our protocols are based on guidance from the above international, national, state, regional and local governing and accrediting agencies. We will continue to collaborate with experts and organizations. You can read more about our Museum Care and Maintenance Cleaning Protocol.
