Pembroke Pines, Florida – Children’s Harbor, a nationally accredited nonprofit agency with a mission to help strengthen families who are struggling in the community, has named Karen Ross, EA to its board of directors.

Karen Ross, EA is a partner, accountant and enrolled agent with Palermo, Landsman & Ross, P.A. An enrolled agent status classifies Ross as a federally licensed tax practitioner, empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury with unrestricted practice rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agent status is the highest designation issued by the IRS with a specialization in tax code. With her extensive experience in tax compliance, Ross leads the firm in dispute resolution at the local, state and federal level.

“What is happening at Children’s Harbor is so much bigger than me,” said Ross, who has frequently engaged with Children’s Harbor in the past. “Serving among some of the most compassionate board of directors in the community is just one way to change the lives of our youth who’ve been impacted by trauma.”

Active in the community, Ross serves on the advisory board of The General’s Club for the Boys and Girls Club and on the peer advisory board for entrepreneurs through the Thrive program. She also serves as a committee chair for the upper school Parent Teacher Organization at American Heritage School and is a member of 6 Degrees Golf, which cultivates and fosters meaningful relationships among like-minded executives that extend beyond business into friendships, charitable endeavors, or peer groups.

Ross earned her bachelor’s degree and an Executive Master of Taxation (M.TX.) from Florida Atlantic University.

Established in 1996, Children’s Harbor also provides safe shelter and support to teens in foster care so that they may grow into healthy, educated and productive adults and is a harbor of hope and healing for children who have been impacted by the trauma of child abuse.
