The holidays are a special time of year when we reflect upon the past, share special moments with our family, friends and love ones, and look ahead to a new year filled with promise and opportunity.
In this season of hope and joy, we gather to celebrate the values we share, embrace our differences, and give thanks for the many gifts we often take for granted – freedom and peace, family and friendship, health and happiness. We also pause to remember the brave men and women in uniform serving in lands far from home protecting our country and defending our liberty.
As Mayor, I am grateful to the citizens of Fort Lauderdale for their participation, passion, and commitment to making our City the best it can be. I am thankful to each and every City employee for their dedication, sacrifice and service to our community. Together, we are making Fort Lauderdale an outstanding place to live, work, play, visit, and rise a family.
During this season of giving, we are also reminded of our responsibility to help those in need, and our community has so many who have reached out the less fortunate. Your volunteer efforts have helped nurture those who are sick, comfort those who suffer, feed those who are hungry, and bring hope for those who despair. You truly make a difference in the lives of those around us by spreading goodwill, and we thank you for your generous efforts.
As the New Year approaches, the City looks ahead with great optimism and anticipation. We remain committed to meeting the diverse needs of our citizens, maintaining an outstanding quality of life, and working to ensure that all residents share in our success.
My warmest wishes to you and your love ones for a joyous holiday season and a happy, healthy and successful New Year
May God bless you and your families during this holiday season and may God Bless America.
John P. "Jack" Seiler
Mayor, City of Fort Lauderdale
