FORT LAUDERDALE – The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is pleased to congratulate the fifth graduating class of the Broward Center Teen Ambassador Program consisting of 24 participants from 15 high schools.

During the past school year, Teen Ambassador activities included sitting with the orchestra during Disney’s The Lion King, listening on headsets to the stage manager as he ran performances of The Phantom of the Opera, interviewing Pippin cast members and attending master classes and workshops featuring Sutton Foster, Joshua Bell and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The students also attended theater, dance and music performances to write in excess of 100 reviews and use social media to discuss their experiences with approximately 10,000 friends.

Since its inception in 2010, the Teen Ambassador Program has given more than 100 students tickets to performances and provided behind-the-scenes knowledge of the arts at the Broward Center, which is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 theaters in the world. The Broward Center offers more than 40 different education programs and is home to the largest arts-in-education program in the nation.

Public, private and home schooled high school students residing in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties are eligible to participate in the Teen Ambassador program. The deadline to apply for the 2015-16 class is August 28 and applications are available now at BrowardCenter.org/education/student-programs/teen-ambassadors. Call 954.468.2689 or e-mail teenambassador@browardcenter.org for more information.
