Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, his “Ode to Joy,” is one of the most widely recognized and universally loved pieces of classical music ever written.

The piece is defined by its choral movement, which follows three movements of powerful, riveting orchestral music. Audiences immediately recognize the thrilling, high-octane melody that has been used to express joy in diverse events ranging from the Olympic games to TV commercials.

South Florida audiences will have one chance to hear this blockbuster sung by the Master Chorale of South Florida on Wednesday, February 26, at 7:30 pm at Coral Ridge Church, 5555 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale.

In this performance, conducted by Brett Karlin, the 130-voice Master Chorale will be accompanied by 80 members of the Lynn Philharmonia and internationally renowned soloists soprano Sherezade Panthaki, alto Rebecca Robinson, tenor Robert Stahley and bass Richard Ollarsaba.

Tickets at $35 can be purchased through www.masterchoraleofsouthflorida.org or by calling 954-641-2653 until midnight on February 25. Any tickets remaining on the day of the concert will be sold at the door for $40 or given to students with ID free of charge.
