FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- June is National Adopt a Cat Month and the Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) has extended our adoption special for felines! If you adopt any cat over the age of 6 months the adoption fee is waived! (That's a $25 savings) If you adopt a feline under 6 months the adoption fee is just $50 and you can adopt two and pay just one fee. All felines will be spayed or neutered before they leave the shelter, given preliminary vaccinations, feline leukemia test; microchip, a cardboard carrier to go home in; a 10 day health care plan courtesy of VCA Animal Hospital and a bag of Purina ONE food. Most importantly you are getting a friend or friends for life. All adopters must meet adoption criteria and are limited to two felines for this promotion. Felines must also leave with a pet safety collar which is available for purchase in the shelter's Pet Boutique.

During the summer, shelters all across the country are inundated with kittens and the teenage and adult cats are often overlooked. By waiving the adoption fee for adult felines the HSBC hopes to entice potential adopters to give the mature kitties a chance too.

The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road and adoption hours are Monday - Saturday 10 - 6:30 and Sunday 10 - 5:30. The Humane Society also has pets available for adoption seven days a week at the PETCO in Boca Raton, at the corner of Glades Road and 441; PETCO in South Miami located at 6200 S. Dixie Highway and at the PETCO in Hallandale at 1470 East Hallandale Beach Blvd. For more information call the shelter at 954-989-3977 and press 3 for adoptions or visit www.humanebroward.com to see the pets available for adoption.
