Painting the white roses red...Stranahan House… the name was familiar, but until my niece extended an invitation to attend the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party there on Saturday, I admit that I’d never actually thought of going, and wasn‘t even quite sure where it was located. The surprise was pleasant when we, a group of women spanning three generations, stepped into the magical blend of history and Wonderland.
Greeted by the Queen of Hearts, we were escorted to our table, adorned with lovely tea cups and platters stacked with a delightful array of finger sandwiches and pastries, along with all the accoutrements needed for the perfect cup of tea.
The festivities included a jaunt to the garden for a photo op with Alice in Wonderland’s colorful cast of characters, and a tour of the house with its authentic historical furnishings. Awed by hearing the history of this residence, along with its residents and their impact on the development of the city of Fort Lauderdale, we decided to include this annual event on our agendas.
