FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Volunteers for the Heart Gallery of Broward County "wrapped up" $8,285 to benefit the organization during December 2012 at Fort Lauderdale's The Galleria Mall. Volunteers wrapped gifts for mall-goers every day from Dec. 15-24.
Made possible by The Galleria, the gift wrapping opportunity allowed Heart Gallery volunteers to raise funds which will provide innovative programs that support Broward's foster children. While individual shifts lasted four hours, Heart Gallery volunteers provided gift wrapping services for up to 10 hours per day. The Galleria supplied all of the wrapping paper and ribbon.
The Heart Gallery of Broward County is a traveling photography exhibit of foster children who are waiting to be permanently adopted. With the help of the Heart Gallery's photographic displays, ChildNet, a private non-profit agency that handles adoptions from the state system, strives to find loving families for these children. Both agencies have combined efforts to raise money to benefit foster children in Broward County.
"The Galleria Mall gift wrapping was not only a wonderful fundraiser for our organization, but also an enjoyable experience for all volunteers," said Barbara Schechter, executive director of the Heart Gallery of Broward County. "We're very thankful to The Galleria for giving us the opportunity to raise funds that will help us change the lives of many foster children in Broward County."
